Analysis of incorrect road markings - Bournemouth
I opened Google map and stopped at the first junction in Bournemouth. It was built by specialists, right?
The error that believes itself to be true. – Rene Descartes
1. Some specialists do not know what the directions are in the roundabout and put road markings incorrectly and confusingly, the direction arrows.
A. The forward direction in the Roundabout, is the gyratory direction, the circular direction, or the direction of rotation! If you go around the roundabout all day, you go only in the forward direction.
B. The direction to the left is represented by the roundabout exits.
C. The direction to the right does not exist in the roundabout.
The theory is in the mirror for countries where traffic is on the right.
I think that the specialists who drew these directional road markings would be very confused at a roundabout with 6, 8, 12, or more exits.
2. Contradictory and confusing signs and markings!
3. Lack of roundabout sign.
4. A lot of wasted, unused space, which reduces the distance to change directions for those inside the roundabout.
I don’t see the discontinuous lines delimiting the traffic lanes, inside the roundabout, which causes the chaos inside of roundabout.
At a high traffic flow, this roundabout will be completely blocked. The right words are = traffic jam.
5. Lack of Yield (give way) markings.
Yield markings were probably either not invented in Bournemouth, or some specialists ignored the importance of these very important markings. I already explained, how important these markings are. I hope you have the patience to read and understand.
6. Some specialists confuse the dashed guide lines and draw them where there should be dashed lines for the stop limit, in case it is necessary to give priority.
Correct markings should look like this.
7. I notice that there are no continuous lines to separation of lanes when entering the roundabout, but it is likely that changing lanes is allowed when entering the intersection. I hope there aren’t many who do this and the number of accidents in Bournemouth is still low.
8. Never put more input lanes than output lanes!
There must always be more exits lanes than entry lanes, or at least an equal number!
9. Applied road markings, or lack thereof, cause conflicts and accidents!
This is just an analyzed situation, but I would definitely find a million
road marking faults in Bournemouth.

10. The Smart Roundabout© is the best solution.
The Smart Roundabout© saves a ton of money, both for the authorities and for the users.
TIME – eliminating conflicts means fluidity.
ACCIDENTS – without conflicts between road users, the risk of accidents is reduced to zero. No material, medical, or social damage.
FUEL – without traffic jams, fuel consumption is down.
POLLUTION – without traffic jams, the air in the area will be less polluted.
POLLUTION – without traffic jams, the air in the area will be less polluted.
Defective road signaling is responsible for half of road accidents, and often this is done based on rules, standards and solutions contrary to logic, mathematical or physical laws, with fatal consequences. WHO data says that about 1.3 million people die and 20-50 million are seriously injured annually, with actual costs of ~3% of GDP, but also other unquantified costs.
